Emergency medical dispatch for events

Pyramid Dispatch is a cloud-based emergency medical dispatch system that's been used at some of the UK's largest events since 2025. Designed to help medical providers manage calls and coordinate their responders, the system consists of a web application and smartphone app, along with optional dedicated GPS trackers.

It’s powered by the AWS platform and contains advanced mapping features, including integrations with what3words and Google Maps. These tools mean you can, for example, import a festival or racetrack site plan, and see the location of your incidents, ambulances, and other responder teams in real time on your event map. Alternatively, for events like marathons and fell runs, you can import race routes – rather than a site plan – and see your incidents, responders, and race route overlaid on Google Maps imagery.

While Pyramid Dispatch has been designed to make event medical control fast, safe, and efficient, the system is based on a foundation of good governance, which means data security and resilience are built in. Activity is logged throughout the system, which allows for detailed post-event reporting and ensures a robust audit trail.

Streamlined call handling

  • Integrate event maps and site plans, or use GPX routes to overlay race routes onto Google Maps
  • Search lists of known locations such as campsites, grandstands, stages, roads, etc and instantly plot them on your map in a single click
  • Quickly tag high-priority calls
  • Verify and plot what3words addresses on the site plan in seconds - with automatic suggestions to fix misheard or misspelt what3word addresses

Efficient dispatch

  • Send call details to crews directly via the Pyramid Responder app
  • Assign incoming calls to crews without waiting for call takers to finish recording information - call handlers and dispatchers work in parallel
  • GPS tracking identifies nearby responders, which reduces response times and helps pinpoint responders when they request assistance
  • The Pyramid Responder app helps crews to navigate around large events by overlaying their location and the incident location on the event map or site plan
  • Initiate telephone and text message cascades in the event of a major or critical incident

Post event reporting

  • Generate reports including call volume, demand profiles, call categories, conveyance rates, call cycle times, and much more
  • Export event logs, PDF call records, and responder GPX tracks
  • Satisfy clinical governance and audit requirements

Control room

Call takers and dispatchers connect securely to the web app, where they can create and manage calls, and dispatch responders.

Cloud platform

Our Amazon Web Services (AWS) powered platform benefits from robust, resilient, and secure cloud services, and makes setup at events effortless.

Responders

Crews see call details, patient information, and locations directly in their app, with push notification when they are assigned or calls are updated. Maps and popular locations are downloaded for offline use.

GPS tracking

Responder positions update on the event map as teams move, so dispatchers can see who is nearest to a call, or where responders are when they ask for assistance. Tracks are retained for post-event review.

Robust and accountable command and control for festivals, sport and large events

Pyramid Dispatch is suited to large events such as festivals and sporting events, where you have multiple mobile medical teams being controlled by a dedicated medical dispatcher, or a team of call handlers and dispatchers working in parallel. It's been designed to streamline the call handling and dispatch processes so that you reach patients more quickly.

The system provides insight and analysis into call patterns, demand, and workload with its real-time reporting and post-event summary reports.

With Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulation and the Department for Health and Social Care’s (DHSC) Event Healthcare Standard on the horizon, there has never been a better time to switch to Pyramid Dispatch.
